HB 33 establishes and amends the Texas Education Code, the Occupations Code, and the Government Code regarding law enforcement’s responsibilities, training, actions, and certifications.

HB 121 authorizes TEA to commission peace officers who have been certified to certain powers, privileges, and immunities.

HB 1458 authorizes school boards to grant the district chief of police certain rights in hiring staff for the department, including the authority to carry a weapon, receive benefits, etc.

SB 878 allows a school marshal to open carry a handgun (no longer must be concealed) if in uniform that identifies them as a school marshal.

SB 1858 defines a law enforcement agency for the purposes of the bulletproof vest and body armor program as an agency of the state or an agency of a political subdivision of the state authorized by law to employ peace officers, including an independent school district.
